Easy summer decorating ideas for your home

It might seem a little way off yet, but summer is just around the corner, which means it’s time to start thinking about bringing in the top summer home decor trends of 2019 into your home for easy room refreshes. Ring in the season with a series of our interior designer’s go-to summer home decor trends that are sure to brighten your horizons as we move towards the warmer months ahead.

Add pops of color

Swap in graphic paintings, fresh flowers or vibrant dishes for the fastest possible makeover. All colors — soft, light, shimmery, deep are suitable for summer décor. If you're ever stuck, lighten your lights and darken your darks to create contrast.

Outdoor lights

Admit it–you've been to a bar, a restaurant or even a wedding that had string lights everywhere. These country fair-inspired globe lights are super cozy and very on trend. Hang them on a deck like this blogger did or try an indoor version in a kids room or a cozy reading nook.

Amp up the bar

Fresh and fruity summer cocktails deserve a dedicated station. Whip up a mojito or mai tai at a well-stocked table. Every island house needs a fantastic, spilling-over bar.

Floral door wear

A wreath is not just for fall or Christmas. You can create a beautiful floral wreath for your summer decorations too. Use a twig wreath to start with this DIY project. Hot glue some artificial sunflowers to the twig wreath and adorn it with some matching ribbons and embellishments. If you love colors, add flowers of different colors and sizes. Bright yellow flowers and summer blooms look great on this door wreath. Instead of choosing pastel flowers, go for the gold colored ones. This will be a perfect transition from spring to summer. This neutral and bold color combination on the summer décor twig wreath looks great on a dark colored door.

De Wolfe Wall Forms

3D wall panels are on trend right now, because no matter what style or design you choose, they will still fit in your house. Installation process – very fast and easy, maintenance as well. Why not try something different then? Choose between 17 designs and paint them in any color you want! The best thing is that you can use them inside and outside the house.

Make the trim matter

Fresh cushions or pillows can change up an entire room, especially if you consider the details. There's a nautical feeling to things like the trim on the curtains and the piping on the upholstery. If you need inspiration, check pictures of an old yacht and that great 1930s pool furniture, both will give you some ideas.

Floor cushions

Affordable floor cushions look great stylistically and they are perfect for seating those extra guests who always seem to be buzzing around your home during the summer. Go for heavy duty materials for your floor cushions like leather, so they can withstand being moved about, taken outside, and can endure plenty of use and wear and tear.

Install an outdoor shower

Okay, this one requires time and a budget — but rinsing off sand, salt or sweat feels so much more refreshing under the open sky. And the whole family will enjoy it.

Floral prints

Florals are so hot right now. If you've been considering incorporating this trendy look into your home, summer is the perfect time to make the leap. From wallpaper to shower curtains to the throw pillows seen in this colorful room, it's easy to add a pop of nature to any room in your house. Bonus: You won't have to worry about keeping these flowers alive.

Moroccan

This is another trend that has been around for a while but isn't going anywhere. The sun may be blistering outside, but you can enjoy a desert-inspired look inside in the comfort of your air conditioning. These poofs are a perfect way to add a bit of souk-inspired glam (and additional seating space!) to your living room. We also love Moroccan lanterns; hang them on your porch or sunroom for an instant exotic flair.
